Better Blooming Orchids

How to get your plant to re-bloom

If you live north of Florida, you may want to place the plant outside on a back porch or even up in a tree where it will be protected from direct sunlight but will get water from summer rains. Leave it outside until the first report of pending frost. Then bring it in your home and see if it will naturally spike. The cool nights and warm days of late summer and fall will help trigger the spiking response in the plant.

If you are an African Violet grower you might want to place your orchids with them. Many African Violet hobbyists report excellent success with phalaenopsis orchids. If none of the above suggestions are plausible for you, in the fall season, try to create an environment where the orchid has a little more light than it had in the summer and a day/night temperature difference of about 10 degrees.

Good luck and enjoy you orchid!
